MAYBE I’LL WRITE MORE SHIT
I have a renewed interest in writing, which I don’t really know what the fuck that means, but a good percentage of why I started this fancy Substack thing is so I would have a place to combine my art with words about the art.
Tell some fucking stories, as it were. As it was? Writing!
Anywho, I may write more about punk rock, fighting games, art, weirdos, rad people, rad things, stuff that I’m more than just “in to.”
But who knows. I feel like in an ever increasing AI generated world, in a world where artists have been taking it on the nose for the last few years, my voice and art is what sets me apart so maybe it’s time to lean in to that.
HER NAME WAS LUCY
We recently said goodbye to our sweet pug Lucy. I made a tribute comic to her and her majesty.
ALIEN DAY
It seems now that every year for #ALIENDAY (internet nerdery celebrating the classic movie Alien) that I redraw the same alien drawing I first did four years ago. A drawing that helped me get through a particularly bullshitty time.
MIDDLE AGE PUNK GOES TO A METAL CONCERT
Every time I step out my front door it costs me bucks. Especially when it comes to going to metal shows in Denver.
COOL SHIT I FIND AROUND PLACES
Samurai Shodown! A Fighting Game Series Retrospective
I’m fucking obsessed with fighting games, you know, like Street Fighter, which is among some of favorite games in the genre, particular the Alpha series. Aside from the mainstays and the obvious, one of my favorite series is Samurai Shodown for it’s deliberate slow and precise gameplay coupled with it’s wild sense of humor and beautiful art. Kbash does a much better job of using words to explain why SamSho is such a killer and amazing fighting game series.
Glory Guitars: A Memoir of a ‘90s Punk Teenage Punk Rock Grrrl - Gogo Germaine
If you were a teenage punk rocker in the ‘90s, which I fucking was, you’ll likely find this book oddly similar, which I did, like it was some kind of weird parallel dimension to my own life and experiences. If you weren’t, you should read it anyway because it’s fucking astounding and I wished everybody who was into punk rock in some capacity would write a book about it. I would read every single fucking one of them.
Die Spitz - Teeth
Down and dirty punk rock filtered through the grit and grime of Hole-esque grunge. Awesome a fuck.
THAT’S IT FOR NOW
Thanks for reading these things. Your eyeballs mean the world to me.
Absolutely, lean in!
